Sparta, Kentucky (September 20, 2017) - On Wednesday, Christian Eckes traveled to the Bluegrass State where he joined Venturini Motorsports for the ARCA Racing Series' open test session date at Kentucky Speedway.
Not scheduled to race with the team during Friday's ARCA Crosley 150, Eckes took to the track focused on gaining intermediate race track experience in preparation for next season’s increased ARCA schedule.
Temporarily abandoning his familiar blue and white colored New York Bus Sales Toyota Eckes took over the No.55 Musselman’s BIG CUP Apple Sauce Camry. Topping out at 177.930 mph Eckes’ speed was seventh fastest overall on the speed chart.
Since joining Venturini Motorsports in 2016, Eckes has competed in a total of 14 ARCA races all of which have been run on short tracks. Yesterday’s practice at Kansas was Eckes’ first introduction to an intermediate race track featuring a 1.5-mile surface.
Eckes will eclipse his career number of starts next season when he increases his series schedule to 15-races – adding a handful of intermediate tracks to his resume.
